Hello, and welcome to my website! My name Elizabeth Hennessey and i’m a recent graduate from Drake University. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with Bachelors’ degree in News Journalism and International Relations.
I’m a passionate and dedicated worker with experience in researching and writing. I work well under tight deadlines and am aiming to develop real world experience by writing for a meaningful organization.
While at Drake, I have completed courses that have given me knowledge on intercultural communication, digital media strategies, public affairs reporting, media editing, and a plethora of international political programs.
Experience
At Drake, I wrote several stories for the on-campus paper, The Times Delphic, where I interviewed sources and verified facts for each story. I have a passion for writing and a vast curiosity. I pride myself on writing the stories that no one else wants.
I have a background in photography that ranges from portraits to photojournalism. Examples of my work can be found in the portfolio sections of my site. I shoot all pictures on my Canon Rebel T5 and edit them using Adobe Photoshop.
In high school I served as the copy editor for my school’s paper, The Totem, where I edited every piece of text using AP Style and offered feedback to my writers. As a digital editor, I redesigned our online publication while managing our social media presences. And as the president of my high school’s speech and debate team, I honed my research and writing skills that qualified me to state and eventually nationals.
For the past five years I have worked at OfficeMax, where I gained valuable customer service skills. In the Print department I designed business cards and flyers for customers while managing walk-in customers. I also had the opportunity to train numerous employees on how to run the Print department. Everything was always produced under tight deadlines.
